COJUANGCO UPDATES

STO. TOMAS—Biskeg na Pangasinan, a local political party accredited by Commission on Elections (Comelec) and composed of major political leaders, is now chaired by former Fifth District Rep. Mark O. Cojuangco.

This, after its founder, Secretary Antonio “Bebot” Villar, Jr. turned over the chairmanship to Cojuangco in a general assembly held in Barangay San Antonio this town on March 25. Influential leaders from the four corners of Pangasinan came in droves.

BISKEG-1

Secretary Antonio Villar Jr. delivers his message at the Biskeg na Pangasinan’s general assembly where he turned over the chairmanship of the party which he founded, to former Pangasinan Fifth District Rep. Mark Cojuangco.

The general assembly was attended by some hundreds of elected provincial officials of Pangasinan and other prospective candidates in the 2016 elections, including mayors, vice mayors with their councilors from 43 out of 47 towns and cities in Pangasinan who came to take their oath as Biskeg members. The same huge group had earlier committed to support Cojuangco’s gubernatorial bid in 2016.

Villar said he is confident that under Cojuangco’s leadership, Biskeg would be revitalized and become stronger and active once more in assisting its members and Pangasinenses in general.

BISKEG-2

Cojuangco takes his oath of office as new chairman of Biskeg na Pangasinan administered by chairman emeritus Antonio Villar Jr.

Villar said when he became busy then occupying different national positions, i.e., assistant secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication and in charge of foreign-funded projects, head of Local Governance in Malacanang then of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group, Task Force Subic and chairman of Dangerous Drugs Board, his time and schedule prevented him from actively steering Biskeg affairs.

Two years ago, he entrusted the chairmanship in an interim capacity to another official but Biskeg na Pangasinan became inactive, prompting Villar to take the lead again.

BISKEG-3

Cojuangco vows to give his best as the new chairman of Biskeg na Pangasinan and to live up tot he expectations of chairman emeritus Antonio Villar Jr. for the best interest of the party and its members.

Cojuangco came to the rescue and Villar, during the general assembly called him “a doctor” who could treat what ailed the group “to resuscitate it as it was like being in an intensive care unit of a hospital”.

Villar administered Cojuangco’s oath of office as the new chair of Biskeg na Pangasinan, which he founded and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2005 as a local provincial party the following year.

In turn, a mass oath-taking of members was administered by Cojuangco being the newly- sworn chairman.

BISKEG-4

Vice President Jejomar Binay graces Biskeg na Pangasinan’s general assembly.

Cojuangco, a former three-term congressman of Pangasinan’s fifth district, is the son of businessman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, NPC founder.

The young Cojuangco is also the provincial chairman of the NPC in Pangasinan. The elder Cojuangco is presently the chairman emeritus of the NPC.

Cojuangco said it is his “distinct honor and privilege” that Villar chose him to lead Biskeg na Pangasinan and promised to live up to the chairman emeritus Villar’s expectations.
