STUDENTS of the North Central Elementary School can now use the newly constructed state-of-the-art gymnasium after the local government formally inaugurated it on Tuesday, March 24.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the P4.8 million multi-purpose covered court, another initiative to improve infrastructure in public schools.

Fernandez was joined by officials of NCES, Department of Education (DepEd), Parent-Teachers Association, barangay council, and department heads from the local government.

The facility will benefit more than 1,200 students, as well as residents of Barangay Bonuan Gueset.

Dr. Alicia Quimboy, NCES principal, thanked the city government for its support to the school, especially its students, by providing the new gymnasium.

Mayor Fernandez said that it has always been a priority of her administration to provide quality educational facilities in the city.

Fernandez recalled the time when during the school’s flag raising ceremony, students would rush to their classrooms after the rain started pouring. With the new gymnasium, the students can now be protected from the elements. (Patrick Cendreda/CIO)
