COMPARATIVE statistics presented by the Philippine National Police in Dagupan showed a deep plunge in index crimes in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same period last year. Non-index crimes, however, soared high.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of the Dagupan City police, reported on Thursday that index crimes from January to March this year was recorded at 25, which is a 38 percent decrease from last year’s 40 for the same period. Non-index crimes, however, rose to 53 from last year’s 38 registering a 37 percent increase.

Abrahano said the increase in non-index crimes does not mean policemen did not do their duties well, rather the reverse. He said an increase an increase in the efforts of the police force to enforce the law, particularly in the campaign vs. illegal drugs and firearms use.

Index crimes include murder, homicide, robbery, theft and physical injury. (PIA)
