DON’T’ WORRY, BE HAPPY

THERE will be enough supply of bangus (milkfish) to pass around for the duration of the Holy Week.

This was assured by City Agriculturist Emma Molina as the city anticipates an increase in the number of visitor arrivals in the city however, she added that she cannot ascertain if the price of Dagupan bangus will increase due to pressure of high demand.

“We are appealing to bangus traders not to increase their prices unreasonably,” she said as she pointed out that bangus is not considered a basic commodity listed by the government controlled by price ceiling.

Molina said she hopes the market price will not go higher than P120 per kilo and an ample supply will help contain the price level.

For locals and visitors who find it appropriate to abstain from meat, bangus has become a favorite alternative which is why the city government has to ensure there is enough supply.

Dagupan City is, after all, known as the bangus capital. (Tita Roces)
