All out war vs drug-dealing politicos

WE note that th anti-illegal drug campaign in the province is not as intense or concerted as the provincial and town police stations want to make it appear. This is not to belittle their efforts in arresting suspected drug peddlers in the streets because one drug dealer arrested is still one less menace to the community. But there is one obstacle they face.

Our police need a firm “guideline” on how to deal with mayors, councilors, barangay kapitans and other LGU officials suspected to be engaged in the trafficking of illegal drugs. There are a number of local officials and their relatives still operating clandestinely but known to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. PDEA’s 2014 annual report cited 190 public officials and government employees (56 elected officials, 49 policemen, 85 employees) arrested. One can easily surmise the number of ‘untouchables’ protected by their political patrons to this day.

There are a number of criminal public officials in Pangasinan who are operating and profiting from the illegal drug trade to this day which explains in part perhaps why the police cannot haul more to their jails than they can today.

The campaign can achieve far dramatic result in their efforts if Gov. Amado Espino and Liga ng mga Barangay head, Board Member Amado ‘Pogi’ Espino III will signal an “all-out war” against public officials listed in PDEA’s target lists.

What peace talks?

THIS is not a war between Christians and Muslims. Instead, this is a war between peace brokers and peace breakers.

We are the peace brokers and a handful of Muslims in Mindanao the peace breakers.

Look, our brother Muslims wanting a republic of their own are mainly found in only 2 of 16 provinces in Mindanao.  These 2 provinces—Maguindanao and Sulu—are but 2 of the country’s 81 provinces.  They are the only 2 provinces sowing terror in Mindanao, in the country.  Why do we even have to talk peace with them when the government is superbly superior in all spheres of activities?

We repeat:  Peace talks only happen when there is a stalemate between two fighting forces.  We have overwhelming edge in military, government, and manpower force over the Muslim secessionists.  They are but pocket rebellions that can easily be crushed in one fell swoop.

To talk peace with troublemakers is bowing to crooked reason, essentially surrendering superior strength to molehill personnel.
