Dagupan teams shine in basketball, swimming
POSTSCRIPT: 2015 REGION 1 ATHLETIC MEET
THE Dagupan City team’s boys basketball and girls swimming teams (elementary level) bagged the gold medals and emerged as champions in these events during the Region 1 Athletic Meet, held on February 15-21 in Manaoag.
For the first time since it began participating in the regional sporting affair, the basketball team won the championship, beating the Pangasinan II squad, 90-76.
The secondary level boys and girls quintets which also played for the first time in the championships were, however, unsuccessful in their quests for gold medals and settled for silver medals, losing to defending champion Batac City, 78-82, and to Pangasinan II, 68-96, respectively.
In the swimming event, the young swimmers were successful in their campaign by notching ten (10) gold medals, while their boy counterparts bagged three (3) gold to bring home the elementary level championship in swimming. The tankers also netted ten (10) silver and five (5) bronze medals. (Philamer C. Celi)
