Dagupan athletes, coaches join R1AA team
2015 PALARONG PAMBANSA
TWENTY-seven athletes and two coaches who represented the Dagupan schools division and participated in the 2015 Region 1 Athletic Association Meet (R1AA) last February 15-21 will join the R1AA delegation that will compete in the 2015 Palarong Pambansa on May 3-10, in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
City Division Schools Superintendent Gloria R. Torres said eight players and coach Jose Enares will comprise the region’s boys basketball team, elementary level, while three girl and three boy swimmers will be in the elementary swimming team with Elenita Cabotaje as coach for elementary girls.
Since Dagupan City’s elementary boys basketball and girls swimming teams emerged as champions in their respective events during the 2015 R1AA Meet, the city is contributing the most number of athletes to the delegation.
The other city athletes in the elementary level are: two, girl gymnastics; and, one, boy volleyball. In the secondary level (girls division): one each in, arnis, athletics and gymnastics; two, basketball; and, two, swimming and in boys division: two, basketball; and, one, swimming.
The selected athletes and coaches underwent an orientation and interview by the Regional Screening and Accreditation Committee (RSAC), last March 17, at the West Central Elementary School Teachers Hall. (Philamer C. Celi)
