NOT SIDING WITH RELATIVE PEPING

NOT all Cojuangcos agree with Peping Cojuangco and his wife Tingting in their call for President Benigno Cojuangco Aquino III to resign.

Former Fifth District Congressman Mark Cojuangco has distanced himself from his relatives Peping  and Tingting demand for the President to resign from his post and give way to what the two call as National Transformation Council that  they said will govern the country.

Interviewed by newsmen during the inauguration of the Drug Treatment and RehabilitationCenter-Dagupan (DTRC-Dagupan), Mark Cojuangco said of his uncle: ” That is wrong”. “I am not a party to such call”.

Peping is former Rep. Cojuangco’s uncle as the latter’s father business tycoon Eduardo, is Peping’s and the late President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino’s first degree cousin, making him a first degree uncle of the President.

Hindi naman tama yon. We have a democratic system to follow and besides, election is nearing,” said former Rep. Cojuangco who clarified that his side of the Cojuangco clan is instead urging  President Aquino to continue his programs and projects that he has set till the end of his term.

He said the worst situation that will happen to the country if that the President is made to step down is anarchy and chaos.  “It will interrupt the momentum of the economy, many people will lose jobs and be dislocated and our economic opportunities will be destroyed,” he intoned.

“We have a democratic system to follow. We can debate on the issue but not to the extent of seeking the resignation of the President, he said.

Asked what President Aquino must do, Cojuangco said the programs he set for the country have already been rolled out and it will be too late for him if he still revises  them. He should just continue these till the end of his term, he said.

He said the next best thing to do is to elect a good President that will replace President Aquino in 2016.

Clarifying that he is reflecting the opinion of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) of which he is a member, and that of himself, he pointed out that he and Peping were never together in politics. Peping is identified with another party, PDP Laban

“We have nothing to do with the call of Peping Cojuangco. In our case we want the President to succeed up to the end of his term. That is why we are giving our wholehearted support to him, especially in Congress” Cojuangco said.

Cojuangco’s wife Kimi is a member of Congress representing the fifth district of Pangasinan.

He clarified though that they do not agree sometimes with some of the programs of the President, but the most important thing is they are among those hoping that the President will succeed in all the programs that he seeks to achieve for the country and people.

Cojuangco is now making the rounds in Pangasinan in connection with his plan to throw his political hat into the gubernatorial ring in next year’s election.
