2014 MISS PANGASINAN-USA

LINGAYEN- A 20-year-old Filipino-American who was proclaimed 2014 Miss Pangasinan Talent and Beauty Pageant held in the United States blew into town last week.

Raven Marie Castain Mapanao paid a courtesy call on Gov. Amado Espino Jr. last week and shared her initial impressions about the province she was visiting for the first time.

Raven Marie, daughter of Mariano Edward Alisa Patricia, said she came to see her grandmother’s hometown, Agno, and other parts of the province.

She told the governor of the beautiful scenery she had seen and the warm hospitality she felt everywhere. “The Provincial Capitol in Lingayen is one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen,” she said.

Raven said she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her late paternal grandmother, Carmen Lastimosa Mapanao, one of the founders and past president of the Agno Club of Northern California and the Filipino Women’s Club of the East Bay.
The Mapanao family is presently based in California.

Raven has been involved in different community services events in USA including benefit concerts for typhoon victims in the Philippines, cleanups, among others.
Apart from being a singer and a dancer, Raven is into sports. She plays rugby in Italy.

She plans to attend either John Cabot University in Italy or the University of Melbourne in Australia to pursue International Studies and Languages to become an international interpreter.

She said she would love to also learn to speak the Pangasinan language, as well.

The search for Miss Pangasinan Talent and Beauty Pageant is an annual project of the United Pangasinan of America, an association of Pangasinense based in the US. (Johanne Macob/PNA)
