Semi-finals for four teams set today

TWO crucial games involving four teams in the cross-over semi-finals are set today, Sunday at 3 p.m., DWAD Gym, after which the winners will dispute the championship crown of the 2014-2015 Seaoil-NBTC (National Basketball Training Center) Elite League.

The hostilities today will see Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD) pitted against Lyceum-Northwestern University FQD Special Science High School (LNU-FQD), and Federico N. Ceralde Integrated School (FNCIS) versus Pangasinan Universal Institute (PUI).

At the end of the second and last games in the eight-team quarterfinal round last Sunday, January 25, DWAD and PUI emerged victorious and ranked first in the groups they belonged, E and F, respectively, while FNCIS and LNU-FQD ranked second. Their win-loss standings in the eliminations and quarterfinals have been carried over to the next round.

Game results last Sunday were: PUI smothered St. Albert the Great School (SAGS), 58-45; SWAD thumped La Marea Academy (LMA), 76-60; FNCIS edged St. Michael School by the Sea (SMSS),65-58; and LNU-FQD trimmed Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS), 59-54.

Over-all, with the carry-over standings,  the teams ranked as follows: Group E – 1. DWAD, 2. FNCIS, 3.SMSS, 4. LMA; Group F – 1. PUI, 2. LNU-FQD, 3. DCNHS, 4. SAGS.

The winners in the semi-final games will face each other for the crown in a one knock-out championship game and the ultimate winner will take on the champion of the Tarlac City Elite League engage in a winner-take-all championship game to be played in Dagupan City in the second week of February.—(Philamer C.
