A CAMPUS school guard was shot and killed by security guard he was about to relieve in his duty post Thursday morning.

Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of the Dagupan City police station (DCPS) identified the victim as Felixberto Lopez, 47 year-old, resident of Barangay Calmay here and a security guard of Colegio de Dagupan.

Abrahano said at 5:50 am Thursday, the victim arrived in the school to replace the suspect Anacleto Vidal, 44 year-old, for the post.

As the two were turning over duties, they had a heated argument that resulted in the shooting of the victim by the suspect using his service firearm.

Lopez was shot on his chest and was immediately rushed to the nearby Region One Medical Center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Abrahano said Vidal surrendered to a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent known to him.

“We are still conducting a joint investigation with the NBI while we await the post mortem test and autopsy results for further information on the incident”, said Abrahano.

He added that the possible motive for the incident is an old grudge between the two security guards. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
