A MEMBER of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) based here was arrested for sexually abusing a thirteen-year old girl from Barangay Pantal.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, Dagupan police chief, said the parents of the victim reported the incident after their child disclosed she was sexually abused.

Abrahano said the police immediately arrested the suspect, Romualdo Maranan, 25 years old, a native of Barangay Malaruhatan Lian Batangas and currently based in Barangay Pantal as member of the PCG.

“The victim’s house was near the PCG station and the suspect invited the victim to give him a massage in exchange for P200 as payment but the victim said instead she was raped by the suspect”, said Abrahano.

He said the medico legal showed evidence of penetrating trauma that showed a positive fresh laceration in the victim’s hymen.

“A case is being readied for filing”, said Abrahano, “while the victim will undergo counseling by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD)”. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
