MBTF turns over housing units to 30 families

DAGUPAN CITY – Thirty housing units in Sitio Korea, Bonuan Binloc were recently turned over by the local government to informal settlers as part of its socialized housing program.
Mayor Belen Fernandez turned over the housing units to family beneficiaries through a memorandum of agreement she signed with them last January 27 formalizing their ownership of these housing units.
The families were originally from Sitio Maisan in Barangay Poblacion Oeste, who had been squatting on private properties for decades.
Mayor Fernandez said the project is part of her administration’s continuing efforts to improve the welfare of residents who have less in life.
The local government provided each housing unit with electrical and water connections. In addition, a parcel of land was allocated for their backyard gardening
Fernandez said a day care center will be put up in the area to provide early education to the children of families within the community will soon be established in the community.
“Shelter is one of the basic human necessities, and the city government is ready to provide those who don’t have their own homes a place to live in,” said Fernandez.
Residents expressed their gratitude to the local government for providing them their own homes.
Larry Uson, who lives with his wife and three children, said “We are happy that my family has a new house. After so many years, we didn’t have a place we can call our own. And now Mayor Belen gave us this unit that will serve as our home.” – (Patrick Cendreda/CIO)
