Five arrested in shabu buy-bust operation

VILLASIS— The campaign of the provincial government against illegal drugs continues to gain momentum with another recent successful buy-bust operation in this town that resulted in the arrest of five suspects.

The local police operatives with elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 1, seized 142.5 grams of shabu estimated to cost P300,000 in a buy-bust operation Wednesday in Barangay Poblacion Zone 1.

Secretary Antonio Villar Jr, chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board, who lives in neighboring Sto. Tomas town here, lauded the successful anti-drugs operation.

P/Chief Inspector Jesus Manalo Jr, the police chief, said Crime Laboratory examination confirmed that the five heat sealed transparent plastic sachets confiscated by the operatives contained shabu.

Arrested in a buy bust operation were suspects Jestoni Abasta, 28 of Barangay Palina East Marjorie Garcia, 27, resident of Barangay San Vicente, both in Urdaneta City.

In the same operation, three others who were having sniffing session in the area, namely Francisco Porio, 43 from said place, Joana Patrice Dasig, 20, resident of Barangay Carmay East, Rosales town and Joel dela Pena, 31, from Barangay Baracca here., were nabbed.

The police chief said Porio is in their drug watchlist.

Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 and RA 10591 had been filed against the suspects at the regional trial court branch 50 in this municipality.—Tita Roces
