THE development of young athletes in various sports events will continue to be one of the priorities of the Espino administration.

Gov. Amado Espino Jr. gave the assurance as he expressed optimism that the Pangasinan 1 and Pangasinan 2 teams competing in the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) meet will perform creditably and well.

Espino said during the KBP Forum last week that the provincial government provided P5-million in financial assistance each to the two divisions to cover the athletes’ trainings, uniforms, among other concerns.

The R1AA games will be held in Manaoag, Pangasinan.

Meanwhile, Espino disclosed that the Philippine Sports Commission has requested the province to host the Philippine National Games – Regional League in August.

The governor said Pangasinan has become a popular venue for national sports events and credited the province’s well-maintained facilities and hospitality for it. (Johanne Macob/PNA)
