INQUIRY ON FALLEN 44

LINGAYEN—The need to ferret out the truth in both senate and congressional inquiries is imperative but end the blame game.

This was echoed by Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil and added that justice can only be served by the truth behind the merciless killing of SAF’s 44 commandos in the bloody Maguidanao massacre last Jan. 25.

Bataoil said Thursday that he trusts the Board of Inquiry knowing the integrity of the officers in the board even as he pointed out the need to stop the “blame game.”

“It’s not good for the mission accomplishment to allow the rift between the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and PNP (Philippine National Police) to continue,” he said.

Bataoil said he told the board his own experiences in Mindanao as a SAF commander and later as a city director of Cotabato where he was strongly supported by the Army generals like their own.

He is seeking full recognition of the acts of heroism, the upgrading of PNP Bravery Medal awared to the Fallen 44 and the wounded to the highest award, PNP Medal of Valor.

Although he is not a sponsor of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law, Bataoil said he prayed for it to succeed.

” I will support any initiative that will bring about lasting peace and harmony among brother Filipinos regardless of religion or ethnic affiliation,” he said. (Tita Roces)
