LINGAYEN – Local producers of products with export quality have been assured of continuing opportunities to penetrate global market through the linkage provided by the Pangasinan Brotherhood – United States of America (PB-USA), a conglomerate of US-based Pangasinense associations.

This commitment was affirmed by PB-USA Executive Vice-President Lino Caringal, who led a group of 25, to   Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. during the group’s courtesy call last week.

The governor led a powerhouse team of local manufacturers of Pangasinan products that joined world economic and trade groups in the prestigious Diversity and Trade Exposition held in Artesia, California October last year.

Locally produced products were exhibited for the first time in the business exposition that drew thousands of US buyers, including importers and wholesalers and top business entities and groups from all over the world.

Pangasinan’s participation in the California Business Exposition was initially worked out by PB-USA president Eddie Ferrer.

In a letter to the governor last month, Ferrer thanked the Espino administration for its support to the PB-USA’s trade activities and said the Trade Task Force is contacting US importers and buyers for Pangasinan’s products.

Ferrer said a special symposium will be held this year to further introduce and expose Pangasinan-made products to prospective importers and local producers will be invited to attend the symposium, while interested importers and buyers of Pangasinan products will be invited to look at the operations of the producers in the province, Caringal said.

Meanwhile, Neil Estrada, Associate Member of the PB-USA Trade Task Force, said the group plans to showcase Pangasinan products in a US television network.

The provincial government reiterated its commitment to support local producers and cooperatives through the Livelihood Assistance Program and Credit Surety Fund.

Caringal lauded the provincial government for reaching out to the entrepreneurs in the grassroots. “The platform of governance is there and the political will of the Governor is what’s important,” he added. (PIO)
