DE VENECIA HIGHWAY

MAYOR Belen Fernandez has ordered the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) to post traffic enforcers along the De Venecia Highway especially along the rotunda area on 24/7 duty to enforce traffic rules and ordinances and ensure the safety of motorists.

She issued the order after conducting an ocular inspection in the area following a road accident over the weekend that recently claimed the life of 20-year old Dagupan resident Kathryn Ledda, a motorcycle rider.

She ordered POSO enforcers who will be on duty 24/7 not only to guide and caution speeding motorists but to stop and apprehend motorcycle riders who are not wearing helmets.

Meanwhile, Fernandez was elated to see that signage for road safety reminders have already been put in place by the 2nd Pangasinan Engineering District of the DPWH along De Venecia Highway to help ensure the safety of motorists.

The mayor asked District Engineer Rodolfo Dion to install more signage especially along accident-prone areas, and the latter promised the early installation of the requested signs.

Fernandez said she will also ask the Sangguniang Panlungsod to study the possibility of seeking the temporary closure of De Venecia Highway from 5 a.m. to 8’a.m. every Saturday and Sunday as a designated area for joggers. (CIO)
