Local veterans honored with PVAO field office

LINGAYEN—The sanggunian panlalawigan has a gift to the province’s war veterans and their surviving descendants.

A 360-sq. meter lot has been provided for the construction of Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) field office here.

Second District Board Member Nestor Reyes, author of the resolution approved Monday, said the donation will perpetuate the memory of the veterans’ patriotic services in addition to the provincial government’s annual commemoration of the Lingayen Gulf Landings, making January 9 each year as Pangasinan Veterans’ Day.

Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. the project to further give importance to the veteran’s welfare and well-being and as a lasting legacy of their heroism.

There are 6,872 war veteran-pensioners in Pangasinan and the present PVAO Field Service Extension Office in Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City is not adequate to serve the large number of veterans and their descendants in the province, the resolution said.

The resolution seeks to segregate, identify and designate 360 square-meter lot on the western portion of lot of the Capitol business area and authorized Gov. Amado Espino Jr. to enter into a deed of usufruct with PVAO granting the right to use said portion of lot for the construction of its field office.

“It’s going to be really a happy Veterans’ Day on January 9 in Pangasinan,” Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr., presiding officer in the provincial board, said after the passage of the resolution. (Tita Roces/PIO)
