THE HUSBAND AS THE WIFE SEES HIM
TAKE it from the wife, as every wife knows her husband well.
Fifth District Rep. Kimi Cojuangco, wife of former Congressman Mark Cojuangco whom she succeeded in Congress, said her husband has been, even during their courtship period, a very simple man.
In one gathering, Cojuangco recalled that when Mark was still courting her, her grandparents who owned the Pantranco bus company then in Dagupan City, noted how Mark was not “maarte” in dressing up.
Mark is the son of business tycoon and former ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. His family owns the Northern Cement Corporation in Sison town.
“So from the start, what I am trying to tell you is Mark is not a materialistic man. Mark is so simple,” Kimi said.
She added that “Mark may be quiet, because I am the one who is more talkative while he is the quiet one, but he is very approachable”.
Kimi also said that Mark is a good father to their three children. She said each time she gave birth, Mark was always beside her all the time during her Caesarian delivery. He stood beside her in a doctor’s garb, watching over her and their baby was delivered.
He would patiently monitor the baby’s location until the newborn is placed at the nursery to make sure there was nothing to worry about.
“So up to the last detail, he thinks about it and he is also like that in his work,” Kimi said.
“And as a father, he has given such a good example to our children because of his work ethic,” she added.
This makes their children want to be part of their lives, mostly like their father, Kimi said.
Their eldest is a mechanical engineer, the second a doctor and the youngest is about to enter law school.
“They all got the simplicity of my husband and he seldom gets mad. But if he does get mad, it is for the right reason,” she said.
Kimi said their constituents in the fifth district know Mark’s work ethic. “He treats his mayors like his brothers. It’s like we belong to one family,” she said.
