LINGAYEN—The Lingayen Baywalk exapansion program begins.

With P114-million allocated for the expansion of the Lingayen Baywalk this year, it will include the extension of the baywalk towards the east in San Isidro Norte, Binmaley.

This was disclosed by Second Pangasinan Engineering District head, Engr. Rodolfo Dion, in an interview last week.

The expansion program will also include the extension of the baywalk to the west side, towards El Puerto Marina resort in Lingayen.

Dion said the baywalk will eventually serve as an alternate coastal road and will be constructed following the standards for a national road.

He added the construction of the four-kilometer long expansion project will start this first quarter.

The Lingayen Baywalk project was initiated by the joint effort of the office of the second district Congressman Leopoldo Bataoil and the provincial government led by Governor Amado Espino Jr.

Meanwhile, the provincial board expressed through a resolution their full support to the extension of the Lingayen Baywalk project and endorsing the same to the Department of Tourism for additional funding.

The board said the baywalk is envisioned as an additional tourist attraction to the historic and tourist-oriented Lingayen Beach where people from all walks of life could gather and relax.

The baywalk is also now equipped with a solar-powered lighting system. Several tables and benches have also been put up, through contributions from different public and private groups, further making the baywalk a favorite hangout spot in the capital town.- (Johanne R. Macob)
