Dagupan forms 355-man delegation
2015 REGION 1 ATHLETIC MEET
THE athletic delegation of Dagupan and City Division of Schools to the forthcoming Region 1 Athletic Association Meet, tentatively set on February 15-21 in Manaoag, has been formed and will be composed of some 355 city and DepED officials, athletes and coaches.
This year’s delegation will compete in team and individual sports and events, i.e., arnis, athletics, badminton, chess, artistic mag, swimming, taekwondo, and volleyball. For boys only – baseball, basketball, artistic mag, sepak takraw, and philspada in the elementary and secondary levels, boys and girls divisions. And for girls only – artistic wag and rhythmic.
In the secondary level, the delegation will vie for medals in arnis, athletics, basketball, chess, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, badminton, and billiards. For boys only – baseball and artistic mag. For girls only – artistic wag and rhythmic.
Education Program Supervisor Edilberto R. Abalos said the delegation, except the swimming teams, will be supported with a P1,642,200 budget from city funds. The swimming teams, composed of 32 swimmers and 4 coaches, will be supported P461,500 budget.
Last year, the city delegation got P2,478,200 for almost the same number of persons who participated in the 2014 R1 Athletic Meet, swimming teams included. – (Philamer C. Celi)
