City has only 1 firetruck

IN case of fire in Dagupan City, the city can only respond with one firetruck from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

This is because two out for the three units that the BFP maintains in the city are under repair, leaving only one to be fully functional.

In this regard, the city government has requested the Department of Interior and Local Government to provide two new fire trucks and the request was endorsed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) through a resolution last Tuesday.

“Due to insufficient capabilities of the city fire station, the city has had to depend on other fire brigade volunteers such as PANDA and CSI to assist the BFP during fire incidents,” City Mayor Belen Fernandez said.

Fernandez said the need to augment the firefighting capability of the city is urgent.

Letters of request of the city has been forwarded to the offices DILG and the BFP in Manila. (CIO)
