3 drown at San Fabian beach

SAN FABIAN—Another teenager drowned at a beach here on December 29, the third since the Christmas holidays.

The fatality was Ed Paul Cemitara, 14, student and resident of 7043 Avocado St., Makati City while swimming at the seawater in Barangay Nibaliw West here at around 3:00 p.m.

The victim was retrieved unconscious by elements of Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Team hours later and rushed to Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City but died at about 9:00 p.m.

P/Chief Inspector Crisante Sadino, the town police chief said two others, a 10-year old girl from Nueva Ecija and a technician from Baguio City also drowned here few days ago.

Sadino called on beachgoers to be careful when swimming and reminded parents or elders to watch their kids’ activities all the time

He said while they have WASAR Team deployed along the beach, there is no substitute for being cautious at all times to prevent tragedy.—(Tita Roces)
