CALASIAO—A vendor has been charged with murder for the alleged killing of a 16-year old high school student of Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) last week.

P/Superintendent Satur Ediong, the town police chief, said Tuesday, the complaint against the suspect Freddie Bugayong, 30, vendor, was filed before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Dagupan City.

The victim, Jennifer Sotelo, was the suspect’s sister-in-law.

Ediong said the complaint was filed even pending release of the results of the laboratory examination that would show that the victim was raped. An amended complaint with raped would be filed if confirmed by the crime laboratory test.

Sotelo, grade 8 student, at the DCNHS, who reportedly rode with Bugayong in his garong to go to Barangay San Miguel initially, was fetched and brought to an abandoned house owned by the suspect’s family in Barangay Talibaew at around 4 p.m.

She failed to return home Saturday night.

Scene of the Crime Operatives elements discovered Sotelo’s body buried with multiple stab wounds in an abandoned house of the suspect’s family in Talibaew after the suspect surrendered Sunday to Barangay Captain Gregorio Taminaya of Bacayao Sur, Dagupan City.

She was found naked, her hands tied, her mouth muzzled with her underwear and was buried about 2.5 meters deep.

Sotelo was due to return to school Monday after her absence due to hospital confinement for her heart ailment.

Erly Datario, DCNHS school principal, said Monday that students, teachers and other school authorities were shocked on learning of Sotelo’s brutal death. (Tita Roces)
