MANGALDAN -A local news reporter complained to the police station that the mayor of San Jacinto town allegedly mauled him while a barangay kapitan pulled a gun on him and threatened to kill him.

For these alleged attacks during a drinking spree at 11:00 a.m. of November 25 in Barangay Labney, San Jacinto, Ronnel de Vera, 46, staff reporter of Northern Watch, is set to file charges against San Jacinto Mayor Roberto de Vera and Barangay Captain Zandro de Guzman of Sto. Tomas, San Jacinto.

The entry in the police blotter showed Mayor de Vera allegedly punched several times when the latter refused to stop the music being played on his laptop. The mayor also allegedly forcibly took De Vera’s laptop.

Barangay chairman de Guzman who was with the mayor, joined the fray and allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at De Vera, shouting at the top of his voice: “Pateyen taka (I will kill you)”.

Renato Remogat and Bingo Lucasan, a correspondent of Aksyon Radyo Dagupan, witnessed the incident and allegedly pacified De Guzman.

De Vera said his laptop is still with the mayor.

Mayor de Vera could not be reached to give his side on the incident. (JGJr.)
