More teams post first wins

SEAOIL-NBTC ELITE LEAGUE

Michael School by the Sea (SMSS), Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD), and Bonuan Boquig National High School (BBNHS) outsmarted their respective foes and notched first win apiece in the Local City Tournament of the Junior Regional Championships of the Seaoil-NBTC (National Basketball Training Center) Elite League, Season 2014-15, last Sunday, at DWAD Gym.

SMSS edged University of Luzon (UL), 51-50; while, DWAD subdued Mother Goose Special Schools (MGSSS), 55-21; and, BBNHS dumped Wonderland School (WS), 48-36. The game between Pangasinan Universal Institute (PUI) and East Central Integrated School (ECIS) has been postponed to another date.

With their wins, SMSS and DWAD join the league’s opening day winners Judge Jose de Venecia Sr. Memorial National High School (JJDVSMNHS), Dagupan City NHS (DCNHS) and St. Albert the Great (SAGS) to lead without any loss in their respective groups.

The next games in the elimination round are slated on January 10 and 11, 2015 and to be followed by the quarterfinal round on January 17 and 24.

The top two seeds in each group will advance to the quarterfinals where eight teams will be divided into two groups with four teams per group. The top two of Group A will join the top two of Group D, and the top two of Group B will be merged with the top two of Group C.

Team standings as of date show the following: Group A – JJDVSMNHAS, 1-0; DWAD, 1-0; MGSS, 0-2; FNCIS, 0-0; Group B – DCNHS, 1-0; La Salette, 0-1; PUI and ECIS, 0-0; Group C – SAGS, 1-0; BBNHS, 1-1; WS, 0-1; FQD, 0-0; Group D – SMSS, 1-0; UL, 0-1; La Marea, 0-0. (Philamer Celi)
