SOME 40 pieces of Good Bye World, 10 pieces of Crying Cow and 100 pieces of Whistle Bomb, considered as illegal firecrackers, were confiscated by the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) in a checkpoint on Sunday (December 21).

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of DCPS said the police officers conducting checkpoint in barangay Lucao here discovered the box containing illegal firecrackers in a motorcycle driven by Franklin Ugaban, 22, resident of barangay Linoc in Binmaley.

“Ugaban said he bought the firecrackers, valued at P1, 850, from a dealer in the city but we have to confiscate these since they are illegal and can be very dangerous”, said Abrahano.

Abrahano said the police are building a case against known sellers of illegal firecrackers in the city.

Retailers of firecrackers in the city are required to secure a permit before they can sell their products.

The police said the permits will be required even if they sell in the designated firecracker zone. (Hilda Austria)
