THE Dagupan City government held a dialogue with representatives of local accounting and bookkeeping agencies last December 11 in a bid to further improve the process in issuing business permits and to strengthen the coordination between the city government and the business sector in preparation for the renewal of business permits in January of next year.

“We want to make Dagupan City a business-friendly city for investors and business owners. At the same time, we want to eliminate graft and corruption in the government,” said Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and assured the bookkeepers that the One Stop Business Center (OSBC) will continue its effective and efficient performance in business permit processing and licensing.

Fernandez said that aside from improved transactions, the city has increased its tax collection even without increasing and imposing new taxes.

Randolf Ubando, OSBC office manager, said that the process of securing business permits only takes 30 minutes.

Once the requirements for the application – barangay clearance, community tax certificate, health certificate – are completed, permits are processed immediately in compliance with Mayor Fernandez’s order for prompt service.

The City Engineer’s Office, City Health Office and Bureau of Fire Protection have their respective desks at the OSBC to make it easier for business owners to secure their permits.

Elvie Gutierrez, Pangasinan Association of Accountants and Bookkeepers (PABA) president, commended the innovations done by Mayor Fernandez at OSBC.

“The flow of business processing and licensing here in Dagupan City is good and the faster processing definitely helped us bookkeepers,” said Gutierrez. (CIO)
