THE 14th-month pay of regular employees of the Dagupan City government was released just in time for the holiday celebration.

Mayor Belen Fernandez took time to personally distribute their bonuses on December 23 at the CSI City Mall with the families of the employees in attendance.

The employees’ 14th-month pay was provided for in an ordinance approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) last Dec. 16 in a special session appropriating more than P21 million from savings on personnel services realized for the third and last quarter of the year.

The ordinance allocated P18 million for the 14th-month pay and the productivity enhancement bonus of at least P5,000 per employee, and the rest to cover payment for the city’s electric bill for the month of November.

The 14th-month pay is on top of the employees’ 13th-month pay and cash gift, half of which were given in June and November.

Dagupan is only one among few local government units in Pangasinan that paid 14th-month bonus to its employees.

The ordinance was supported and justified by the surplus in revenue collection, expected to reach P14 million over and above the target of P628 million by the end of the year.
