LINGAYEN—The appointment of P/Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Biay as permanent provincial director of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office appears imminent after Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Alan Purisima acknowledged the recommendation of Governor Amado Espino Jr. naming Biay to the post.

The recommendation was communicated through a letter dated October 29, 2014 to Purisima and the latter acknowledged it in his November 17, 2014 letter to the governor.

“…your endorsement was referred to the PNP Senior Officers’ Placement and Promotion Board (SOPPB) which is mandated to vet, select, and recommend senior officers for designation to key positions in the PNP,” said Purisima in his letter.

Purisima vowed the list of candidates will be transmitted to the Governor once the list is confirmed by the Commission.

In an interview, Espino said it has been two years since the province with third-highest population in the country had its full-time police director.

Last October, the provincial board, through a resolution, joined the call to appoint a permanent provincial police director for the province of Pangasinan. (Johanne Macob)
