ALAMINOS CITY–The Alaminos City Water District (ACWD) is under fire after the town’s Liga mga Barangay (LnB) passed a resolution urging Mayor Arthur Celeste and the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) to investigate its activities as a result of the poor management and alleged anomalous operations.

The resolution cited numerous complaints from water consumers for unreliable service from ACWD headed by lawyer Jose Alrae Garcia, in addition to failure of management to attend to requests for assistance and repair allegedly for lack of parts and equipment.

The LnB headed by Salvador Camba said residents who applied for new connection and reconnection remain unprocessed even after payments of fees have been accomplished.

LnB also alleged that even after various projects were implemented by ACWD, poor water service in other barangays affected the daily productivity of the residents.

Lnb said it suspects that most of ACWD’s pumping stations were  outsourced and operated  and maintained by non-residents who in return refuse to provide employment  to residents in Barangay Quibuar, Balangobong to improve collection.

The liga also reported that the water reservoir in Barangay Bued is not fully operational and the new building of ACWD in Barangay Pogo remains unoccupied in spite of budget allocated for it.

The water district services also Mabini and Bani towns.

The resolution was signed by all 39 village chieftains of the city. (Leonardo Micua. Johanne Macob)
