Tayug builds permanent “Christmas Tree”

LINGAYEN– The eastern Pangasinan town Tayug is now working on having a daily Christmas ambience by erecting a permanent “Christmas Tree” in the town plaza.
“We want that in Tayug, it’ll be Christmas everyday,” said town mayor Tyrone Agabas in an interview.

Agabas said the six-meter high concrete Christmas Tree being built at the town plaza is an addition to the cast of cartoon characters erected in the area.

He said the cartoon characters that include Minions, Shrek, Little Mermaid, Happy Feet penguins, Batman, and Superman, and the tree will be the town’s attraction to make the public plaza a tourist spot since the town is landlocked with no rivers, mountains, and other natural tourist spots.

The cartoon characters make the public plaza a child-friendly place in the town proper, said the mayor.

Meanwhile, Agabas disclosed the other infrastructure projects lined up by his administration, namely, These include the improvement of the public market and plaza; expansion of public cemetery; the construction of class AA slaughterhouse, a new rural health unit, a bamboo nursery, and a National Housing Authority housing facility.

The municipal bamboo nursery is also being eyed to produce the one town, one product (OTOP) of Tayug,
