Tandoc, representing LNU under the aegis of the Pangasinan YMCA, again bested entries of other universities and colleges in the Philippines, after winning the contests in the provincial and regional levels.

His article was about an impoverished child who realized his dreams with the help of YMCA who in return initiated forums to create higher awareness towards need and urgency of protecting and preserving the environment.

Under the College-Y umbrella of the organization, Tandoc was coached by Joshua Reyes.
