Junior Regional championship starts Nov. 21

SEAOIL NBTC ELITE LEAGUE

THE Local City Tournament of the Junior Regional Championship of the Seaoil-NBTC (National Basketball Training Center) Elite League, Season 2014-15, starts on November 21 at DWAD and PUI Gyms with 16 secondary schools vying for the coveted plum to represent the city in the next round of the tournament.

The local eliminations in the city will end on January 2015 with the champion team advancing to the semi final round for a knock-out game against the champion of the Tarlac eliminations, on the first week of February. The winner joins other provincial/city champion qualifiers from all over the country.

City tournament commissioner, DepEd Education Supervisor Edilberto R. Abalos said only15 players who were born not earlier than January, 1997 may be fielded by a team; but, in the National Finals, only 12 players are eligible to play for a team.

Participating schools in the local tournament are Divine Word Academy of Dagupan, La Marea Academy, LNU-DQDMSSHS, University of Luzon, Mother Goose SSHS, St. Albert the Great School, DCNHS, Judge JDVSMHS, Bonuan Boquig NHS, East Central Integrated School, Federico N. Ceralde Integrated School, Pangasinan Universal Institute, EDNS dela Salette, St. Michael by the Sea, Wonderland School of Dagupan, and Edna’s School.

The Elite League is accredited and recognized by the SBP (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas) as an official tournament for 18 years old and under and is supported by the NBTC with Coach Eric Altamirano of the UAAP champions, National University Bulldogs, as program director, and Coach Alex Compton of PBA’s Alaska Aces as national training director.
