LINGAYEN- -Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. and 1st District Representative Jesus F. Celeste distributed P1.5 million in cash assistance to over 500 students last week in Bolinao town.

The ‘Joint Scholarship Program of the 1st Congressional District and the Province of Pangasinan’ provides assistance to college students needing financial help.

The governor said that the assistance may not be “sufficient” but it will at least cover most of the students’ needs, from tuition fees to books and allowances.

Espino added that the provincial government implements similar scholarship to assist poor and deserving students and stressed the importance of education in securing a better future for the Pangasinense youth.

For his part, Congressman Celeste thanked Gov. Espino for the support he has extended to the 1st congressional district whom he cited for being “very supportive” to the district for the past 12 years.” “Tuluy-tuloy po ang suporta ni Governor dahil siya po ay naniniwala na ang kabataan ang siyang pag-asa ng bayan,” Congressman Celeste said.

The solon said the provincial government’s support goes beyond scholarships by providing employment for the qualified graduates.

Towards this end, Gov. Espino urged the scholars to love their home province by imbibing the province’s language and ‘Pangasinan Hymn.’ (PIO)
