City fiesta’s parol contest open to all

A PAROL-making contest, an added feature in the 2014 Dagupan City Fiesta celebration, will be open to all individuals, local government units and organizations in Pangasinan.

With the theme “Parol Ko, Handog Ko Sa Pasko,” the entry should reflect the Filipino tradition of Christmas and should be submitted on or before December 1 to the City Fiesta Secretariat Office at the Culture and Arts Office at the city museum.

The lantern, four feet minimum and six feet maximum in height, must incorporate lighting effects. The criteria for judging include originality of the design, craftsmanship and use of indigenous materials and practicality.

Judging will be on December 12-14 and the awarding will be on December 15 at the city plaza.

The parol of the year will receive P30,000. Second prize, P20,000; third prize, P10,000 and fourth and fifth prize P5,000 each.

A submitted lantern with the oldest design will be awarded P10,000 cash prize. Non-winning entries Non-winners will receive P3,000 consolation prize.
