Campaign vs. jueteng nets six

MANGALDAN–The police arrested and charged five jueteng bet collectors and one bettor separately before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Dagupan City for violation of the country’s Anti-Illegal Gambling law.

P/Supt. Jackie Candelario, town police chief, said charged through inquest proceedings were Jeffrey David, Jose Urbano, Rogelio David, Gina Genese, all from Barangay David here and Eduardo Bianan from Barangay Anolid. P20,000 bail was recommended for each.

They were detained at the town’s jail before they were transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Dagupan City.

They were arrested on Nov. 20 while collecting jueteng bets while Genese was caught betting in this illegal numbers’ game.

P/Superintendent Christopher Abrahano, Dagupan City police chief, said Armando Ayson of Barangay Calmay, Dagupan, was also booked after he was caught collecting jueteng bets on Nov. 20. (Tita Roces)
