LINGAYEN–The 307 young Pangasinense woodpushers who participated in the 4th Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. Chess Clinic last September 20, 21, 27 and 28 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC) here get kudos from their number one sports patron Gov. Amado Espino Jr.

Also commended by the governor were the parents and coaches of the chess players who he said play an important role in shaping the children’s dream to become future chess champions.

Saying that chess is one of his favorite sports, Governor Espino adopted the chess clinic as one of the provincial government’s regular sports project activities since 2009.

He cited the example of Haridas Pascua of Mangatarem town, now an International Master, who honed up under the regular chess clinics and tournaments organized by the provincial government. (Johanne R. Macob/PIO).
