BINMALEY – The police charged eight persons for violating R.A. 8049 (Anti-Hazing Law), two of whom are teenagers, for hurting four high school female students of Parayao National High School during an alleged hazing activity.

P /Superintendent Marlo Castillo, officer-in-charge police chief here, said Thursday that the case was filed on Oct. 7 at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Lingayen against Brent Caolboy, 19, from Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City and a 16-year old known only as alias “Boy” from this town.

One more accused was named only as certain “Yuri”, other data unknown, and five other John Does.

Both Caolboy and “Boy” were invited to the police station after their four victims reported how they were hurt as evidenced by bruises on their legs and thighs. The suspects initially denied participation in the hazing activity.

The victims were allegedly blindfolded and subjected to hazing rites in an abandoned house in Barangay Naguilayan this town by hitting them with wooden paddle repeatedly resulting in purplish bruises on their legs and thighs by the suspects, being “masters” who belong to Scouts Royale Brotherhood,

The victims claimed they accepted the invitation to join the organization in the hope of meeting new friends but were not aware they would be hurt in a hazing rite.

Castillo said the filing of the case was based on sworn statements of two victims, who are third and fourth year high school students. He added that two other victims, however, suddenly relocated to Metro Manila possibly for fear of their lives. (Tita Roces, Johanne R, Macob)
