Dagupan waterless for 15 hours

DAGUPAN City went dry for almost 15 hours from 8:00 p.m. Thursday till 11:00 a.m. Friday when the Dagupan City Water District (DCWD) closed its main transmission line for repair at the corner of A.B. Fernandez Avenue and Arellano Street that was suffering from a leak.

DCWD earned the ire of many inconvenienced customers when its promise to resume water service at 6:00 a.m. Friday was not met, forcing some establishments, particularly restaurants, to suspend operations while parents had to send their children off to school without taking their regular morning bath.

Jason Estrada, spokesman of DCWD, apologized to the consumers as the utility company failed to beat the deadline it set for the resumption of water service.

He said the delay in the resumption of water service was attributed to its discovery of more leaks in other parts of the main transmission lines and were only fully repaired at 9:00 a.m.

But it took several hours more after that before all the houses in DCWD service areas got their faucets flowing with water. (LVM)
