DAGUPAN CITY–The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) called on the public to own a bank savings account to be able to contribute to the economic growth of the country.

Arnel Adrian Salva, BSP bank officer V of the economic and financial learning center, made the call during the 2014 Public Information Campaign attended by college students and government employees held last October 7 at Leisure Coast Resort in Bonuan Binloc.

Salva said that based on the Consumer Finance Survey conducted by BSP few years ago, only one out of five Filipinos has a savings account. He said there will be an expansion ”in the capacity of the financial system for further economic growth” if at least four of five have savings accounts. (Hilda Martin Austria)
