BSP sets Run for Coins October 29

TO mark the observance of the National Statistics Month celebration, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in coordination with the provincial government will host “Run for Coins” (RfC) on October 29.

BSP Deputy Director Luzviminda Soriano said the holding of the project RfC, which coincides with the NSM, aims to flush out unused coins and bring them back to circulation in order to save on coin production.

Soriano said it will also make the public get exact change for their transactions.

To join the RfC, participants are advised to register on October 10, 13 and 14 at the BSP Dagupan Branch with Ms. Ana Liza Catan and Ms. Ma. Lourdes Manaois or at the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) in Lingayen.

Registration fee is P250.00, at least P50 of which must be composed of 25 centavo coins and one peso coins.

The registration fee will entitle each participant to an RfC shirt to be worn during the event, snacks and a raffle coupon.

Another activity for the NSM celebration is the Statistical Exhibit at the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC) at the 2nd floor of Malong Building, Capitol compound. The exhibit runs from October 1 to 3.

The schedule for the rest of the month is as follows: October 13 and 14- jobs fair in Urdaneta City and Bugallon; October 14 to 17-first batch validation for the Search for The Most Statistically De4veloped LGUs; October 15- provincial essay writing contest; October 16 provincial stat quiz; October 17-provincial poster-slogan making contest; October 20-poster and slogan making, essay writing and stat quiz-regional level; October 21 to 24-2nd batch validation Most Statistically Developed LGU; October 24- provincial jingle-making contest; October 29- Run for Coins; October 30-regional jingle-making contest and regional closing ceremony in La Union.

This year’s celebration is spearheaded by NSM chair Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III.
