ARCHBISHOP Socrates Villegas, chairman of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) urged the youths to become online missionaries through the social media during the Catholic Social Media Summit (CSMS) in Lingayen on September 13 to 14.

Villegas further stated that the youths who are already exposed with different forms of social media should not only encounter virtually and from a distant but to build a real friendly relationship with their peers.

He said the “OMG” expression, an acronym for “Oh my God,” should already mean “Online Missionaries of God. “We want the youth to become loving, serving and sharing Jesus to everyone,” he added. The summit, organized by Youth Pinoy, advocates sharing the Word of God through social media by the young people.

Meanwhile, Governor Amado Espino Jr. expressed support for the summit’s goal, “I believe that the youth will have brighter futures if they are brought up with the teachings from the church”, said Espino. (Hilda M. Austria)
