PRISAA BEST-OF-THREE TITLE SERIES

MAKING the People’s Astrodome as an evacuation center for an indefinite period of time last few days ago for barangay residents affected or displaced by floods caused by Typhoon Luis resulted in the rescheduling the much-awaited Game 2 of the best-of three championship series in the penultimate staging of PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) Basketball Tournament, slated last Tuesday, between the University of Luzon (UL) Golden Tigers and Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA) Sea Warriors, tomorrow, September 22.

Both UL and PAMMA sides, now fully rested for more than a week after their grueling Game 1 encounter which UL nailed with a come-from-behind win, 69-66, are gearing up for the crucial duel in Game 2 wherein a victory by the UL would give the defending champion Golden Tigers the PRISAA crown for another year and merit the rightful berth to represent Metro Dagupan in the PRISAA Regional Games, in 2015.

A loss, however, would enable PAMMA to fight UL and force a sudden death playoff on another day next week. Should the Sea Warriors fail in its bid to foil UL and equalize the series in Game 2, PAMMA may just contend with the 1st runner-up honors, anew this year.

Game 2 of the series will be preceded, at 1:30 p.m. by the Knock-out game between AIE-College (AIEC) Green Eagles and Colegio de Dagupan (CdD) Blue Stallions who will be battling for third place.

The first place winners in the qualifying eliminations vie for the Regional Games and the regional winner will see action in the PRISAA National Games, in April, next year. (Philamer C. Celi)
