LINGAYEN– Not only is Pangasinan leading the support for the development of the carabao industry in the region, it also wants to be the major supplier of native pigs in the region.

The sanggunian panlalawigan on Monday (September 1) ratified provincial resolution no. 747-2014 which authorizes Gov. Amado Espino Jr., to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Agriculture (DA) for the establishment of a multiplier production farm for native pigs in Pangasinan.

The “multiplier production farm for native pig” project is one of the major components of the DA’s Livestock and Poultry Production Program that aims to accelerate the production of native pigs to supply a growing market for it. Under the program, 28 female and 10 male native pigs will be given to each of the chosen organizations from among the province’s farmer’s livestock program graduates in the six districts.
