Pangasinan Chess Festival set

PANGASINAN kids and professional chess players gear up for the opening of the 2014 Pangasinan Chess Festival.

The four-day 4th Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. Chess Clinic will be held on two dates: September 20-21 and 27-28 at the Provincial Training Development Center in Lingayen. Asia’s first GM Eugene Torre and IM Haridas Pascua of Mangatarem will lead the workshops.

The clinic, organized by the Espino administration, will be supervised by the Pangasinan Chess League headed by its president, Don Juan Vicente Sison and secretary-general, German C. Francisco. Registration is free.

The first of three competitions, the 4th Pangasinan Age Group Chess Championship, will be held on October 18-19 while the 4th Pangasinan Chess Championship exclusively for Pangasinan wood-pusher, will be staged on November 8-9. The annual and prestigious Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. Cup Open Chess Tournament, now on its sixth year, will be on December 26-28. (JAG, Jr./PIO)
