By September 28, 2014Business, News

THE Pangasinan office of the Department of Trade and Industry warned the public that the use of uncertified and substandard construction materials is dangerous since these could lead to destruction to properties and even loss of lives.

Provincial Director Peter Mangabat told the public to patronize certified and quality black iron and galvanized iron pipes (BIGI) and tubes to ensure their safety and protection.

He advised consumers to ensure that the BIGI pipes and tubes they are buying bear the Philippine Standard (PS) mark for products that are locally manufactured or the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker for those coming from abroad.

The local licensed holders for BIGI pipes are:  Supreme Steel Pipe Corp. (Supreme, Superior and Tri-R Pipes); Mayer Steel Pipe Corp. (Eagle); MKK Steel Corp. (Eagle); Hoyugoh Steel Corp. (Samurai); Southern Steel Pipes Sdn Bhd (Southern Pipe); Goodyear Steel Pipe Corp. (GSPC); Huludao City Steel Pipe Industrial Company (H Supreme); Metalman Steel Forming Corp. (Metapipes); and Tanjin United Steel Pipe Company (TUS Smart Steel). (PIA- April M. Montes)
