2014 UCAAP Jimmy Fernandez Basketball Challenge

DEFENDING champions Lyceum Northwestern University Dukes survived International College of Excellence Maharlika searing surge at endgame to eke out a pulsating 85-83 victory and to stay in the hunt for a third title in the 2014 UCAAP Jimmy Fernandez Basketball Challenge held on September 18 at Dr. Salvador T. Duque Fieldhouse in Tapuac, Dagupan City.

15- WELCOME

Welcome to UCAAP!

The Dukes dominated the first three quarters, 23-19, 48-32, 67-59, and led by as much 17 markers, 59-42, in the second period, found themselves in quandary in the fourth and last period to lead by a mere point, 81-80, 1:11 minutes left, but came through with a crucial two free throws by point-guards George Alipio and Llyod Quisay.

With the clock winding down after a basket by ICE wily guard Moreno, Dukes center Julius Tiburcio bravely penetrated in the shaded area and drained the team’s insurance basket in the last four seconds that frustrated the visiting Maharlikas.
