DAGUPAN CITY – The city’s School Board passed a resolution on September 10 endorsing the Developmental Basketball League (DBL) as a prime sports program of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government of Dagupan City starting 2015. The resolution was unanimously approved during a meeting of the School Board presided by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez as chairman. The move was adopted to facilitate public fund support for DBL.

“In order for the city to easily channel its financial support to the program, it would be best if DBL will become the DepEd and the city’s prime sports program, which is also in line with the city’s Building The Future in Developing Our Excellence in Sports or B.T.F. Does it program,” Fernandez suggested.

At the same time, under the new arrangement, the participation of all private schools will be assured in the competition the DBL is both a government and a privately run sports program. (CIO-Joseph C. Bacani)
